Netgear’s booster products are meant to extend the transmission distance, or range, of any router. This allows devices that are farther away to connect to the same network. Boosters can connect to most wireless routers, including Linksys brand routers. The Linksys router must have an antenna or antenna connection. This is not available in many newer Linksys routers but is common in older models. The booster is plug and play and doesn’t require any software to install the device.
Locate an open antenna connection on the rear of the Linksys router. If no antenna port is open, you will have to manually remove at least one of the router’s antennas. To remove, unscrew the antenna with your hand.
Position the Netgear booster near the Linksys router.
Connect the RP SMA connector on the Netgear booster to the open antenna connection on the rear of the Linksys router.
Extend the antenna on the Netgear router.
