How to Block Computers From the Internet With a Netgear WNDR3300

You can block Internet access from any computers connected to your Netgear WNDR3300.The router includes a software interface designed for this type of administrative task. The software on the router will accept rules based on the type of service. These rules can be used to block or allow any type of network-related traffic including Internet browsing. If you would like to block one or all of your computers from the Internet, access the WNDR3300 software interface and block the http protocol using the Block Services feature.

Open the router’s software configuration. Navigate to in and press “Enter.”

Log into the router’s software. The default username to use is “admin,” and “password” is the default password to use.

Click the “Attached Devices” link on the left side of your screen. This opens a table containing all computers currently connected to the Netgear WNDR3300.

Locate the IP Address column. This is the address assigned to each of the computers. Write down the IP of the computers you want to block from the Internet.

Click the “Block Services” link under the Content Filtering section on the left pane once you have finished writing down the IP address of the computers you want to block.

Select the “Always” radio button, and then click the “Add” button under Service Type. This action displays the Block Services Setup window.

Click to expand the “Service Type” menu, and select the “Http” option. Click the “Only This IP Address” radio button and enter the address in the adjacent field if you only want to block the Internet on one computer.

Click the “IP Address Range” radio button and enter the range of IP addresses you want to block if you want to prevent multiple computers from using the Internet. Click the “All IP Addresses” option if you happen to want to prevent every computer on your network from using the Internet.

Click the “Add” button at the bottom. This takes you back to the previous screen. Click to place a dot in the radio button next to your new rule on the Service Table, and then click the “Apply” button. The computers are now blocked from the Internet.
